CBS Sports Network picks up Lafayette-Lehigh men's game

The Lehigh at Lafayette men's basketball game on Sunday, Feb. 24, at Kirby Field House has been selected for broadcast as a CBS Sports Network flex game.

The game will be begin at noon.

This is the third straight season a Lehigh-Lafayette game has been broadcast by CBS Sports Network

Lehigh, 8-1 in the Patriot League, is currently in a first-place tie with Buckell. Lafayette is third with a 5-4 league and handed the Mountain Hawks their only loss, routing the Mountain Hawks 78-57 at Stabler Arena on Jan. 27.

CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) is the 24-hour cable home of CBS Sports and is available through local cable, video and telco providers on Verizon FiOS Channel 94 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 643 (1643 in HD) and via satellite on DirecTV Channel 613 and Dish Network Channel 158.

Cardinal Health to buy medical supplier AssuraMed for $2.07 billion

(Reuters) - U.S. drug wholesaler Cardinal Health Inc said it plans to acquire AssuraMed, a privately held direct-to-home medical supply distributor, for about $2.07 billion.

The acquisition will give Cardinal access to a new segment of the healthcare market that it believes will grow with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), or Obamacare, as it is more commonly known.

The deal, financed with $1.3 billion in new senior unsecured notes and cash, is expected to close by early April.

Cardinal Health said the acquisition would add 2 cents to 3 cents per share to adjusted fiscal 2013 earnings if the deal closes in early April. It would add at least 18 cents per share to adjusted earnings in fiscal 2014.

AssuraMed will give Cardinal access to the growing number of Americans who are treated in home settings. The ACA is expected to accelerate this trend, George Barrett, chairman and chief executive, said in a telephone interview.

An aging population, more prevalent chronic diseases, and the need to keep treatment costs down are factors that will necessitate more home care in years to come, he said.

"We see this as the natural direction of care that's moving toward the home," Barrett said.

AssuraMed, with sales of about $1 billion in 2012, serves more than 1 million patients nationally with more than 30,000 products. It helps patients manage insulin infusion, diabetes testing, incontinence, tube feeding, wound care, tracheotomy and provides a host of other healthcare services.

AssuraMed operates through two separate businesses, Independence Medical and Edgepark Medical Supplies.

The market for direct-to-home medical supplies is currently fragmented and Cardinal is betting it can capitalize on it with this acquisition and its expertise in supply chain, logistics and technology.

Cardinal shares were up 82 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $46.26 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Boyfriend's Bald Tribute to Cancer-Stricken Girlfriend Goes Viral

When Riley Nicolay's girlfriend of nearly three years, Deidre Sechi, was diagnosed with cancer in January, he vowed that he would fight the disease along with her.

So last weekend, as Sechi's hair began to fall out after her first rounds of chemotherapy, the couple, both 18 and high school sweethearts from Overland Park, Kansas, decided to shave their heads together.

"She's shaving her head and I don't really care about my hair so I'm shaving it with her," Nicolay, a freshman at Iowa State University, told ABCNews.com. "It wasn't an option for me."

The couple decided to have fun with what could have been a sobering process, giving themselves a Mohawk, for him, and a mullet and a buzz cut, for her, throughout the weekend-long event.

"The mullet was a bit much but with the buzz cut, she looked really good," Nicolay said of Sechi, who had to quit her studies at Iowa State last semester after doctors diagnosed the baseball-size tumor in her stomach as a desmoplastic small round cell tumor, a rare form of sarcoma.

The couple documented all their various stages of baldness together, but it is a photograph of the final result, both their heads shaved, that is garnering all the attention.

Nicolay posted a photo of he and Sechi staring into each other's eyes along with the caption, "Beautiful girlfriend is fighting cancer. She got this s***.," on Reddit this morning, where it has already attracted hundreds of comments.

"Right after she got diagnosed, she was joking about how she was going to become famous because of it, that she'd be on "Ellen" and have a blog," Nicolay said. "When I saw that picture I thought I'd put it on Reddit and tell her, 'I put it on the Internet and you're famous,' so that her joke would be a reality."

"But it got a lot more attention than I thought, so it was a lot more reality than I expected," he said.

Nicolay was in class at Iowa State when he began receiving text messages from friends that his photo was on the popular website's front page. He then had to call Sechi, who had been at the doctor's office all morning and had not even seen the photo on the site herself.

"I called her and said, 'Apparently you're famous,'" Nicolay said.

Sechi will continue her chemotherapy treatment at Children's Mercy Hospital in Overland Park until February when doctors will do a PET scan to see if the tumor is shrinking. If it is not, she will travel to Texas for surgery.

"This made it fun so it's not as scary or sad," Nicolay said of going through the treatment together. "She's such a happy person that she's been doing well."

Nasdaq was in talks with Carlyle to go private - source

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Nasdaq OMX Group recently talked with private equity firm Carlyle Group about taking the trans-Atlantic exchange operator private, but the talks broke down because of price disagreements, according to people familiar with the matter.

Carlyle initiated the discussions and was in early stages of due diligence when differences emerged, bringing the talks to an end, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.

Management at Nasdaq feels that the company is undervalued compared with its peers, two separate sources said. Nasdaq's board has a fiduciary responsibility to consider all offers.

All of the sources asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

The talks, first reported by Fox Business Network, occurred about three weeks ago.

Nasdaq spokesman Joseph Christinat said the company does not comment on market rumors or speculation. A spokesman for Carlyle declined to comment.

The talks came just weeks after Nasdaq rival NYSE Euronext said it was being bought by IntercontinentalExchange Inc in a cash and stock deal valued at $8.2 billion when it was announced in December.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway in November also bid for the Big Board parent. The Berkshire offer fell short, but it highlighted the interest in the sector.

Of the four private equity firms that trade publicly, Carlyle is the only one listed on the Nasdaq. KKR & Co LP , Apollo Global Management LLC and Blackstone Group LP are listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Carlyle Chief Financial Officer Adena Friedman joined Nasdaq in early 2011. Prior to that, she had been at Nasdaq since 1993, where she held several posts, including CFO. When she did so, market players immediately speculated that Carlyle would go public on the Nasdaq, which it did in May of last year.
